Friends who are and friends who will be…..
This newsletter is long overdue, for which I apologize.
As the sun is beginning to lengthen our days and a new year is unfolding, I am revamping my efforts to emerge from the burrow of the last couple of years.
Although I have not stopped working on the production of The MicroCosmic Cartoon Show, animated/live-action musical, I have had to slow down for health reasons.
I did go to AFM in Santa Monica in November, 2019, which was, as always, a whirlwind of meetings and non-stop pitching. I made good connections and continued to network within the film industry.
One very talented composer, Saverio Rapezzi, and I began to work on an arrangement of one of the songs from the script, Today’s The Day!.
Although, when Covid 19 shut everything down and Saverio had to return to Italy, we continued to work on the recording from afar. Thank God for the internet and Zoom! Here is the final result. I hope you enjoy it.
The screenplay won several more awards at festivals and screenwriting competitions and was awarded the Dove Seal of Approval for spiritually focused movies. Also, one of the awards from Faith in Film International Screenwriting Competition said:
“The MicroCosmic Cartoon Show is fantastic….absolutely brilliant”.
It can be a lonely journey out here, trying to get the funding and spark interest, so these kudos really help me to keep going. I know I have bitten off a BIG chunk of life and I do wonder sometimes if I am crazy. Then I remember my NDE in 1970 when I was tasked to take this on by a very large Being of Light. There is no turning back.
So, moving into 2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. That began months of chemo, surgery, and radiation. Fortunately, it has resolved. That experience was really quite interesting as, although I had to go through the discomfort and exhaustion, my internal state was positive and centered.
During all this, my partner Forrest and I were given notice to move from our house. We began looking for a house that Forrest’s son offered to buy for us. Housing prices had skyrocketed in this area and we couldn’t find anything suitable. So in February of 2021, we moved into a sweet rental. I had just finished the radiation treatments. We had a lovely spring and summer, tending our new gardens.
Then, to top it off, Covid struck quite suddenly. In one hour both Forrest and I were flattened and ended up in the hospital. I recovered but in November Forrest passed away. Then the long road back began, tethered to an O2 tank and my bed to regain my strength. I set up my office around the bed and carried on as best I could.
Right before the Covid take down, I had finished recording another song from the movie. I had met an incredible musician and keyboard artist, Tim Veazey, who collaborated with my daughter, Surya, and me. Her song, Even If, is such fun! Do listen here…
On top of that, I was offered a shopping contract from a producer and animation house. They would bring the project to all their contacts and get the production deal.
As there was an issue with my co-author, I was trying to work out an agreement when I got sick. The delay caused the offer to be withdrawn. If I can raise the hefty development funds, they will review the terms of the offer. (They had said that the project is very impressive). That is a big IF. Otherwise, I will continue on to find the support I need for this production.
So, I come to you to ask that if you see the benefit to our youth to find the inner strength, peace, love, joy, and responsibility that this movie will awaken in the audiences, please contribute to the funding of this project. Any amount is appreciated and can be a tax-deductible donation to Friends of The MicroCosmic Cartoon Show 501C3.
There you have a bit of these years rolled up in a couple of pages. May you have a blessed and wonder-filled new year. “ Til next time…
